Chorale Unlimited! Rudolf Lutz will be getting thousands of visitors on Marktplatz to sing chorales by Martin Luther, Martin Rinckart, Philipp Nicolai, Paul Gerhardt and Joachim Neander. Half a millennium old they may be, they are still as atmospheric and popular as ever, always stimulating musicians to musical experimentation. We’re launching one such experiment with Chorale Unlimited. The Bachfest’s artistic director Michael Maul will set Rudolf Lutz, the legendary conductor of the J.S. Bach Foundation of St. Gallen, some tricky improvisation tasks; he’ll be forced to work magic with the chorale melodies. And, gifted entertainer that he is, Rudolf Lutz is sure to turn each and every listener into a singer while he’s about it, you can bet your life on it!
